Boo Speaks to PGATour.com at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship

Note: PGATOUR.COM’s T.J. Auclair is on-site on the first practice day of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship. He will file updates all day long.

RYDER CUP REUNION (3:05 p.m. ET) — Well, it looked like Harrington would be flying solo, until a voice with a familiar twang said, “If you don’t mind, I’ll just join y’all.”

It was Boo Weekley, who then asked his caddie, “Hey Joe-Joe, what are we doin’ here?”

His caddie handed Boo a three-wood, and they were off.

MONDAY SINGLE (2:40 p.m. ET) – Not surprisingly, it’s been a pretty slow day. Many of the players got their work in early this morning and took off.

But not Padraig Harrington. The three-time major winner had the longest range session this morning, before moving it to the practice green and then out to the course – alone – for a practice round.

NO TIGER, BUT STEVIE’S HERE (2 p.m. ET) – It’s just about noon here in Tucson and still no sign of the world’s No. 1 player.

The range isn’t nearly as busy as it was through most of the morning, as many players have moved out on to the course.

Rumor around these parts has it that Stevie Williams was out doing Tiger’s homework on the course this morning because Tiger won’t be showing up today. I guess he wants to avoid the madness of his return until the last possible minute, which at this point in time, looks to be very early on Tuesday.

We’ll keep you posted with any sightings, though.

IAN ISHIKAWA? (12:35 p.m. ET) Interesting observation about Ishikawa’s golf bag. He’s got an Ian Poulter-faced headcover on his driver. It’s one of those with the pink visor and wild blonde hair spilling out.

After hitting about a dozen wedge shots and a dozen drives, Ishikawa left the range and it reminded me of the Lemmings — you know, that game where everyone follows the leader no matter where he or she goes?

I think Ryo was just messing with the 40 or so members of the Japanese media he had in tow, as he looped around the range tee area and then went back to his original spot before exiting.

Not sure what the reason was for his quick departure, but the range is filling up — Adam Scott, Zach Johnson and Henrik Stenson just strolled in — so perhaps the boy wonder known as the Bashful Prince was showing his fellow competitors a little courtesy.

You know, let the veterans who are in the field hit balls before taking a spot on the range.

RYO HITS THE RANGE (11:52 a.m. ET) — While the crowd is light on spectators and heavy on media, there was a bit of a buzz a minute ago as 17-year-old Japanese phenom Ryo Ishikawa made his way to the range. Ishikawa isn’t yet in the field, but he is able to practice as an alternate.

His attire is rather tame compared to what we saw last week in his PGA TOUR debut at the Northern Trust Open with the loud colors. Today, he’s playing it conservative with a navy blue shirt and white slacks with two navy stripes running down the outside of each pant leg.

ALL’S QUIET ON THE TIGER FRONT (11:45 a.m. ET) — All is relatively quiet this morning on the driving range at Dove Mountain, but it seems to be the calm before the inevitable storm.

And, for the record, that storm has nothing to do with weather, which couldn’t be better with abundant sunshine and a light breeze, probably in the mid-70s. And if I’ve got the temperature wrong, sue me! I just arrived in Tucson after leaving my home in Rhode Island where the temps were around 20-30 degrees. Anything over 40 is going to feel like 75 to me.

Only seven players are on the range right now, highlighted by Luke Donald. Most of the action is behind the range, looking up toward the clubhouse. All eyes are on the front of the clubhouse waiting to catch a glimpse of Tiger Woods as he makes his much anticipated return to the PGA TOUR.

About 40 photographers are staked out at the bottom of a small knoll that leads to the range. There’s hardly any moving, or talking… Just a lot of staring and waiting.

A rumor I heard on the way to the range was that while Tiger isn’t here yet, his caddie Stevie Williams is out scouting the course.
